PDF_Staging_of_Conflict, Critique_of_Authority.
The following paper developed from a selection of material that I encountered during my research leave. It is based on two key aspects: I chose material that either exnominates conflict (i.e. denies and represses conflict)1 or stages conflict in a way that questions authoritarian gestures and actions. All cited materials are the result of collective working processes and many of them represent the working processes of an educational institution of art and design. I focus on materials from the late 1960s and early 1970s, particularly in the second part of the text, because I wish to contribute to a renewed examination of the educational concepts of that time regarding their orientation towards anti-classism with an emphasis on a critique of authority that was often explicitly motivated by anti-fascist considerations.
